An AI maturity assessment tells you which of five levels your organisation is actually operating at, and what specifically has to change to reach the next one. Coulee Tech runs these assessments across Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Florida using the AI Business Maturity Model — a framework created by our own CEO, Rod Holum, and used by certified coaches at firms nationwide.

The five levels are AI Drifter (unstructured, unmanaged AI use), Prompted Operator (template-driven prompting with human review), Agent Builder (tool-connected, repeatable agent workflows), Agent Manager (multi-agent orchestration with governance and QA), and Physical Integrator (embodied automation with real-world execution controls). Most businesses assessed today land at Level 1 or 2 — including plenty who believed they were further along, which is usually the most useful finding in the report.

Assessment Dimensions

We evaluate your organization across six key dimensions of AI maturity.

1. Strategy

Is AI aligned with business objectives? Do you have executive sponsorship and a clear vision?

2. Data

Is your data accessible, clean, and governed? Do you have the data infrastructure to support AI?

3. Technology

Do you have the platforms and tools needed? Is your infrastructure AI-ready?

Do you have AI skills in-house or access to them? Is there a plan for upskilling?

5. Culture

Is your organization open to AI? Is there appetite for experimentation and change?

6. Governance

Do you have policies for AI ethics, risk, and responsible use? Is there oversight?
